To help everyone get ready, next Tuesday, August 20th at 5pm EST 4pm EST (NOTE UPDATED TIME!), we’re teaming up with the awesome photographers from FILM! Season 2 for a Twitter Chat. That’s right – the group behind [F} Network show’s popular educational and inspirational FILM! My Kodak Moment Social Prints Display Project

When I went to Hawaii last summer I took hundreds of photos. Some were on my DSLR, some on Kodak film and some on my iPhone.

The pictures taken with my DSLR and film camera were blown up, printed, framed and made into photo books.

The pictures taken on my iPhone were posted to Facebook and that was the last anyone saw of them. I recently went back to my Facebook album and realized there were shots I got with my iPhone, because it was handy, that I didn’t otherwise capture.

Not wanting to forget those moments, I used the My Kodak Moments app for Facebook to make Social Prints of those shots. As you can see above I have ordered prints of my Facebook photos using the My Kodak Moments app before… it works really well with square photos like those that come from Instagram.

You can access all your photo albums on Facebook to choose your photos. If your friends have given you permission, you can even print photos from their albums.

There are several alternatives to choose from for your prints. You can change the background color/pattern and the orientation.

Screen shot 2013-07-30 at 5.35.57 PM

You can even do a “mini-collage” print with three photos.

Lots of combos to choose from!

The app pulls in any comments that were posted to that photo onto your print. If you want to edit it or delete it just click “Edit Caption”

I wanted a fun way to display these prints at home so I took an old frame and converted it into a photo display that I can easily update occasionally.

back-600

It was pretty easy. I took out the glass and wrapped the board inside the frame with an old map. I thought the map would make a nice background for travel photos.

wire-600

Then I nailed small nails into the back of the frame, stretched wire across the front of the frame and wrapped it around the nails.

detail-600

I like to use little wee clothespins to attach the prints to the wire. They are so cute. You can also hang other memorabilia with the pictures like postcards, business cards, tickets and menus.

I love how looking at it brings back the entire trip for me!

How to get prints of photos on your phone

There are 1.1 billion smartphone users in the world. Chances are you are one of them and on that phone you have lots of pictures that you have snapped. Whether they are  of your cat sleeping in the sun, the amazing eggs benedict you had at brunch or your sister’s wedding, there may come a time that you want prints of those photos.

(Side thought – good for you for thinking about printing those photos. Remember what it was like flipping through photo albums? Will you and family gather around your phone in 30 years? Where will those pictures be? Whether they are in a frame, a photo book or a collage… there is just something about a printed photo you can’t beat!)

photo (3)

Ok, back to how you can make prints of those photos you have on your phone. This is where the My Kodak Moments mobile app comes in. It’s available for iPhone and Android users.

photo (2)

Once you download the My Kodak Moments app, you can decide if you want to order the prints from your phone and go pick them up at the store, or go into the store and make the prints right on the kiosk.

photo-2

When you use the app, you have access to all the albums and photos on your phone and if you have them in the cloud too.

photo-5

There is a grid view where you can tap and select the pictures you want to print. The icon in the lower right will switch you to the slideshow view seen below.

photo-4

In the slideshow view you can see the photos a little larger and still tap on them to select them for printing.

photo

After you have selected the photos you want, click “Cart” and there you will see a list of the photos you selected. In this view if you click the photo or “Change” it will give you options to edit the photo.

photo (1)

In edit mode you can crop, rotate, or add an effect to your photo. You can also change what size print you want. Clicking “Done” will take you back to the list of your prints and then walk you through the rest of the ordering process.

Still not convinced how quick and easy it is to get prints from your phone? Watch one of our software developers, Marty, show how to order prints in under 3 minutes in this video!

Wedding season and Kodak Picture Kiosk

DSC_0705

It’s wedding season and I was fortunate to attend two so far. The first one was my little sister’s. Of course I show up with my camera. Now both of the weddings had a professional photographer. You don’t want to leave the pictures of an event like this to your sister who might get distracted by the cake *ahem* and miss the big shot. Always invest in a pro photographer who will make sure every moment is captured beautifully for you to remember for years to come.

DSC_0707

I like to take pictures myself so I have something to post to Facebook and make prints for the fridge right away.

DSC_0852

This past weekend I went to the lake-side nuptuals of my friends Taylor and Andrew. What a great backdrop for photos of the bride and groom!

DSC_0864

I especially like taking photos of the wedding details… flowers, table settings, cake, dresses… even the bride’s nails and shoes! I think it’s because I know how much work goes into making those elements of the big day special.

DSC_0856

Again with the flowers. I like to get close ups of these beauties.

DSC_0866

Sometimes I can’t wait to get home and look at the pictures I captured of the happy couple! I pick the best for Facebook and then I start printing! Kodak Picture Kiosk has lots of choices for creative ways to use those wedding photos.

collage

I made a collage of pictures I took at my sister’s bridal shower. You can choose to let the Kiosk auto fill all the spots or fill them yourself. Either way you can still move them around and edit each picture until it is just right. I love these for framing or hanging on the fridge or at the office. It looks much tidier than nine separate photos.

border

Our grandmother couldn’t make the wedding so I made prints in order for to see all the activity. You have the option to add a border to your prints which make them frame-ready or just add a little extra something to where ever you might display them. There are plenty of borders to choose from so it can compliment the photo.

photo-book

Naturally photo books are great for remembering a wedding. My sister is moving overseas and has a lot to pack so I made her a wee little photo book that won’t take up much room.

calendar

Here is something you can make the newlyweds that they will really love. Use photos of their wedding to make a calendar. I made this one page calendar which is nice for pinning to a corkboard message center. A twelve page monthly calendar would be really nice too. Fun for the couple to look at throughout their first year of marriage!

canvas

This is one of the coolest things I think you can make at a Kodak Picture Kiosk… a canvas print! These turn out super cute and ready to hang, no need for a frame. It has a painterly aspect to it. I can’t wait to give this one to the newlyweds!

To make any of these photo gifts check here to find a Kiosk near you that makes that particular product.

I have also pinned lots of great wedding photo projects on Pinterest that you can repin too!

Who doesn’t love a party? That’s why we decided to throw a blogger party at Bartell Drugs to help get the word out about all the cool ways you can use Kodak Picture Kiosks.

Bartell Drugs is a pharmacy chain in the Seattle, Washington area. But really it is so much more. They have almost everything you need in one stop. This includes a photo studio with Kodak Picture Kiosk!

That’s why we chose it as the hub of our blogger party. Louise Bishop, the creator of the blog momstart.com was kind enough to be our hostess for the party.

Bloggers Michelle Paige, Heather Murphy, Summer Olesky and more joined Louise at Bartell Drugs to enjoy some treats, learn about Kodak Picture Kiosk and then use the Kiosks to print their own pictures.

The bloggers enjoyed the Koda-cookies and the goody bags, but what they really loved was their hands on time with the Kiosks.
